We are hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our dynamic care team at Highview of Northampton in Leeds! Full-time, part-time, and per diem available on all shifts: 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a at $42 an hour. Weekend, evening, and overnight shifts come with pay differentials. As a member of our nursing team, you provide direct nursing care to residents and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistant. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by your supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Education and Experience:
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing or college.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • Must have a current and active RN license in the state.
  • A minimum of one (1) year in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility is preferred, but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet the nursing and rehabilitation needs of each resident.
  • Maintain current resident care plans on all residents under his/her care.
  • Follow physician’s orders.  Renders and/or assist with complete nursing care, treatments, dressings, and other physician orders.
  • Transcribe physician’s orders promptly and accurately.
  • Review patient records daily to assure accuracy and completeness.
  • Document comprehensive and complete nursing notes.
  • Visit each resident daily to evaluate resident needs.
  • Maintain accurate awareness of residents on alert list.
  • Document and report any unusual or significant findings; contact the physician when necessary.
  • Administer medication according to procedure.
  • Maintain an accurate and safe control of all drugs for which he/she is responsible.
  • Initiate any and all emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Demonstrate correct safety techniques in accord with orientation and training processes of Athena and your specific job description.
  • Complies with facility Privacy Practices Policies and Procedures and protects residents’ individual health information.
  • Other duties assigned by Director of Nursing and other managerial team members.
Specific Requirements:
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must possess accurate and comprehensive assessment skills.
  • Must be familiar with drug actions and interactions.
  • Must have knowledge of restorative nursing rehabilitation policies and utilizes appropriately.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergencies.

  • Make scheduled hospice visits to patients as directed by Clinical Manager; includes visits to patients admitted the previous day, and any patients with a clinical need for a visit.
  • Death pronouncements for patients dying at home or in a location where there is not a registered nurse to pronounce death.
  • Complete assessments for hospice eligibility.
  • Complete admissions as directed by Clinical Manager.
  • Write progress notes for all telephone contact and all in-person visits.
  • Contact attending physician or medical director as needed for any changes in patient status or need for change in physician orders.
  • Provide appropriate support at time of death and perform bereavement assessment if requested.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training programs for professional staff.
  • Participate in agency and community programs as requested to promote professional growth and understanding of hospice care.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with policies of the agency and rules and regulations of State and Federal bodies which assist in determining policies.
  • Accept other assignments as appropriate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participates in inspections (surveys) made by authorized government agencies.
  • Participates in and assures appropriate assessment of residents, validates nursing staff’s clinical decisions.
  • Participates in development, implementation and communication of resident’s care plan.
  • Assures that staff is implementing care plans, performing care activities appropriately, and recognizing changes in resident status.
  • Makes frequent rounds on nursing unit(s) to ensure that all personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with established nursing standards, and that all resident’s needs are being met.
  • Monitors documentation procedures of nursing staff.  Audits assigned documentation on a daily basis to ensure that all federal, state and facility requirements are met.  Follows-up on problem areas with employees and makes oral/written reports to the Director of Nursing.
  • Cooperates with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that services are properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Within the framework of established staffing patterns, recognizes needs and works to facilitate appropriate assignment of staff.
  • Meets with staff on a regularly scheduled basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services.
  • Functions in the role of staff nurse or provides direct care to meet the needs of the residents as needed/required.
  • Follows established universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.
  • Reviews complaints and grievances made by the resident or responsible party and submits an oral/written report to the Director of Nursing, what action(s) were taken to resolve the complaint or grievance.

  • Oversees maintenance of equipment in accordance with infection control safety guidelines.

  • Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
