  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of dining service procedures as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to hospital and nursing home operations.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility preferred, but not necessary.   • Submits legible and accurate documentation of all services provided in a timely manner in accordance with home health aide documentation requirements.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities of position in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service.
  • Consistently represents Athena Hospice of Rhode Island to all internal and external customers with integrity and professionalism.
  • Encourages and maintains safety standards in the workplace and home.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must pass the Home Health Aide competency exam.
  • Must be proficient in English to the extent of being able to read and understand instructions and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Must understand and use universal precautions when dealing with clients.
  • Must have access to an automobile and must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to physically perform personal care on clients.
  • Must have a valid CNA license.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Works out of the Athena Hospice of Rhode Island office with extensive travel required to patient’s homes and/or nursing facilities. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Possession of current license to practice as a registered professional nurse in the state of Rhode Island. Preferably a B.S. degree in nursing. Minimum two years of varied work experience as a professional nurse and preferably one of the two years in an acute or hospice setting. Demonstrated ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients and families in varied settings. Demonstrated skill in nursing practice, ability to cope with family emotional stress and tolerance of individual lifestyles. EXPERIENCE A minimum, one (1) year experience in a hospital, long-term care facility or other related health care facility is preferable.   • Research and identify all community groups and organizations to determine specifically which groups to target to reach the facility’s goals and marketing strategies.
  • Invite key groups to facility for joint activities, functions and special events. Allow groups and clubs to hold regular meetings at facility.
  • Demonstrates the ability to facilitate, prioritize and coordinate census improvement strategies within the community and maintains daily community contacts.
  • Provide ongoing assistance to potential residents and their families in negotiating a successful placement.
  • Able to train and orient staff to admission policies and procedures.
  • Must be trained as the back up to the Clinical Liaison and be credentialed at any and all local hospitals.
  • Must be able to take on call responsibilities including holiday, night and weekend coverage.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an Admission Director position in a skilled nursing facility or assisted living facility. Must have demonstrated capabilities for management, administration, and supervision. Demonstrated leadership qualities. Must have thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations as they pertain to admissions. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of dining service procedures as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to hospital and nursing home operations.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
EXPERIENCE:
  • One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility preferred, but not necessary.

As a member of our housekeeping team, you perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or the Director of Housekeeping, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. Education and Experience: No experience necessary, on-the-job training provided. A minimum of one (1) year experience in housekeeping in a nursing home or other related medical facility preferred, but not required. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure residents’ rooms are neat, clean, and free from odor.
  • Wet mop floors daily.
  • Shampoo and extract carpets as per schedule.
  • Buff floors.
  • Attend to spills immediately.
  • Empty trash liners and clean containers.
  • Clean bed and rails with disinfectant.
  • Clean all countertops, windowsills, bedside tables, furniture and over the bed.
  • Strip, seal and refinish floors as per schedule.
  • Clean floor edges and corners to prevent build-up.
  • Clean windows and mirrors.
  • Clean personal items, pictures, decorations, flowers, etc.
  • Demonstrate correct safety techniques.
  • Contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions.
  • Complies with privacy practices and protects residents’ health information.
  • Other duties assigned by managerial team.
Specific Requirements:
  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas, must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order and safety.
  • Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out and accept new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate information effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations.
