Four Athena-Managed Connecticut Nursing Homes Increase CMS Ratings
FARMINGTON, C.T. — Four Athena-managed nursing homes in Connecticut increased their Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Rating in July.
Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton and Wadsworth Glen Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown both increased to three stars. Meanwhile, The Summit At Plantsville is now a 4-star facility and Maefair Health Care Center in Trumbull is now a 5-star facility.
“I would like to congratulate the Connecticut team members for their continued dedication to the residents and staff members and for all their hard work as one team to meet the quality initiatives that we’ve been working on together. It is only through team commitment can these outstanding accomplishments occur,” Chris McKinney, Regional Director of Operations for Connecticut, said.
CMS combines results from three areas including Health Inspections, Staffing, and Quality Measures, to get a combined star rating of skilled nursing facilities. The CMS Star Rating is based on a one through five rating scale. According to CMS, a 3-star rating is considered an average rating for a skilled nursing facility.
