As the Human Resource Director, you are responsible for assisting in the provision of human resource services which include employee benefits questions, recruitment and employment, developing/updating human resource policies, procedures, employee and labor relations, and management systems, as well as other administrative functions pertaining to management or general business of daily operations. The Human Resource Director will also assist the Administrator with performing work of substantial importance.
Experience & Education:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Human Resources, business administration, or psychology.
- A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years experience in a human resource general capacity, preferably within a health care or skilled nursing facility.
- Proficient in composition of verbal and written communication.
- Proficient with computer software programs (ADP Advantage, Microsoft Word & Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrate the ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate all administrative activities.
- Maintain accurate and organized administrative files, records, license verification, and facilities policy books.
- Responds to employee questions and problems pertaining to the eligibility and availability of benefits.
- Maintains facilities personnel files, ensures the timely completion of all required evaluations and paperwork, coordinate and manage accurate personnel files.
- Assists front desk in assigned region and fill-in in their absence.
- Communicates with facilities leaders including interviewing, hiring, disciplining and termination.
- Assists in recruitment and retention of facilities staff.
- Maintains confidentiality of all employee and resident related information.
- Performs clerical support duties, record keeping functions, administrative detail and follow-up.
- Coordinate inter/intra facilities communication.
- Completes all background check processes in accordance with all federal and state specific regulations and facilities protocols.
- Coordinate Worker’s Compensation and all other in-house insurance programs (medical, dental, Connecticut paid, life insurance, etc.) and works with claims manager.
- Maintain all regulatory required logs and records (i.e. OSHA, EEOC, CHRO, etc.).
- Knowledge about laws and regulations relating to job responsibilities, e.g., EEO, OSHA, patient rights, fraud/abuse laws.
- Coordinate facilities events.
- Other duties assigned by Administrator or other Athena staff.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing resources and administrative procedures to maintain a sound operation.
- Maintain the care and use and ordering of supplies, equipment, etc., and the appearance of the office by regular inspections and appropriate follow-up actions.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents, staff, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Is knowledgeable in aspects of human resources and the atmosphere in multiple facilities.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
- Is proficient in composition of written communication.
- Is proficient with computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Newsletter Software, ADP Advantage, etc.).
