Litchfield Woods 30th Anniversary Event
On August 8, Litchfield Woods Health Care Center hosted their 30th Anniversary Open House Celebration event. The event was held at their center located at 255 Roberts Road. Four employees were recognized for 30 years of service to the center and its residents. These employees include Certified Nursing Assistants and clinical team members who have worked at the center since its doors opened 30 years ago. This event was held in conjunction with the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce, which the center is an active member.
Mark Loomis, the center’s long-time Director of Admissions & Marketing, acted as an emcee for the event, which hosted more than 100 guests from the community. JoAnn Ryan, President & CEO of the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce, spoke about Litchfield Woods being a great organization and member of the chamber, as well as an important part of the healthcare system for the Greater Northwestern part of the state. Denise Quarles, Administrator of Litchfield Woods, recognized the four employees who have been there since the beginning and shared Litchfield Woods’ appreciation for the support from the community and the Chamber over the years. “Northwestern CT and Torrington, in particular, have been so great to Litchfield Woods over the past 30 years. Not only is there a familial atmosphere within our center for our patients and residents, the region itself has a familial atmosphere in everything it does,” stated Quarles.
Elinor Carbone, mayor of Torrington, was there to attend and present a proclamation from the city of Torrington to the center in honor of their 30 years. She also presented a proclamation from the CT General Assembly on behalf of the Torrington legislative delegation. Carbone recalled her fond memories of Litchfield Woods; visiting friends and relatives at the center, as well as noting that her mother worked at Litchfield Woods for many years as a nurse.
This event also highlighted the great work being done by the McCall Center for Behavioral Health, which is a non-profit organization working towards prevention, treatment, and recovery for substance abuse and mental health issues. The Executive Director of McCall Center for Behavioral Health, Maria Coutant Skinner, was in attendance and spoke about their mission to provide comprehensive, integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment to help people lead healthier and more productive lives.
