We are hiring a Wound Care Nurse to join our dynamic care team at Montowse Health & Rehabilitation Center in North Haven!

Registered Nurse license required. Includes on-call duties.

As the Wound Care Nurse, you plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the wound care program.

Experience & Education:

  • Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing, college, or university.
  • CPR certified.
  • Training or current experience in wound care.
  • Certification in infection control and/or wound care preferred.
  • Two years of infection control/wound care experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious disease, and aseptic techniques.
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in long-term care.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains, executes, and oversees the comprehensive wound care and prevention program.
  • Communicates and informs the infection control and prevention committee of any wound care-related issues.
  • Maintains accurate and comprehensive documentation related to the wound care and prevention program as well as the skin integrity program.
  • Evaluates the status of wound care-related practices in the facility via monthly surveillance rounds.
  • Reviews monthly lab reports, assures up-to-date lab policy/procedure manuals are available. Review the annual antibiogram.
  • Protects residents’ individual health information.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Knowledgable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care and infection control.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc. necessary for preventing and controlling infections.
