We are looking to hire a Director of Environmental Services at Heatherwood Rehab in Newport!

Monday-Friday shift; the schedule may adjust depending on emergencies. Pay ranges from $28-$32/hour based on experience.

In this department head role, you plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry departments.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity with experience in laundry, housekeeping or maintenance in an acute or long-term care environment.
  • Training in operation of laundry, housekeeping and maintenance equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret blueprints and be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Must be licensed in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping and laundry practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing these functions in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance department.
  • Must oversee the maintenance and care of supplies and equipment.
  • Must maintain regular inspections of resident and non-resident areas for sanitation, order, safety, and employees proper performance duties.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.  Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition/incident.
  • Serves on-call for emergencies and off-duty hours.
  • Represents department at pertinent facility meetings and in various capacities.
  • Supervises department personnel including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, orienting, evaluating, and disciplining.
  • Must possess the ability to carry out programs in repair, new construction and equipment installation.
  • Possess sufficient mechanical abilities to handle facility preventative maintenance with little outside contract use.
