Athena Acquires Crestfield Rehabilitation & Fenwood Manor
On Tuesday, December 18, Athena Health Care Systems, of Farmington, CT, purchased Crestfield Rehabilitation and Fenwood Manor, located on Vernon Road in Manchester.
Locally and privately owned, Athena Health Care Systems manages the care of nearly 6,000 people in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island and employees more than 9,000 caregivers and staff.
According to Larry Santilli, Athena’s founder and president, the purchase of the center is an excellent addition to Athena’s portfolio. “Crestfield Rehab and Fenwood Manor have enjoyed a long and very positive relationship with the greater Manchester. They have a great reputation for care; currently listed on U.S. News & World Report’s list of “Best Nursing Homes,” as well as being a 5 Star CMS rated center,” stated Santilli.
“A great staff, providing excellent, compassionate care is a great match for us,” added Santilli.
Santilli stated that he plans $3.5 million in renovations and upgrades to the skilled nursing center, that currently boasts 61 private rooms, plus additional semi-private rooms to accommodate nearly 150 patients. Additionally, the original section of the center, which has gone partially unused for the past several years, will be converted into an assisted living center, specializing in care for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The assisted living will accommodate 30 residents when complete.
