26-Year Staff Member at Middlesex Inducted Into C.N.A. Hall of Fame
Ward, who joined the Middletown, Connecticut, center in 1997, is one of six C.N.A.s in the state to receive the honor from the Connecticut Chapter of the American Association of Health Care Administrators for her service and dedication to residents’ healthcare needs.
Administrator Ursula Affainie nominated Ward, writing, “Through the years she has demonstrated exemplary dedication in taking care of her residents. She was resilient during Covid and while she struggled with her own fears she still came to work because she worries about who would take care of her residents as careful and as gentle as she would.”
Ward was surrounded by family and Middlesex staff members on Monday, March 27th during the induction ceremony in Prospect. She was presented with a plaque for being an “outstanding” caregiver.
“Paulette is a quiet influence on her co-worker. You will never hear her complain. In fact, she would encourage other CNAs to just continue to push forward because better days are coming. She enjoys teaching the new hires on how to do things correctly and efficiently, keeping in mind resident rights. She is equally respectful to residents, families, co workers and her supervisors. Her positive attitude makes others want to work with her,” Affainie wrote in the submission letter. “Paulette is not a fair-weather employee. You can depend on her even if there is a forecast of snow storm. She hardly ever calls out and if she does it’s when she is really sick and she will still call her co-workers to remind them who needs a shower. Her residents always look good, well-groomed and nicely put together. She is kindhearted, she speaks softly and from the heart.”
The Administrator continues to write that Ward calls Middlesex her “second home” and that residents are “family.”
