Farmington, CT. – (December 22, 2022) – Athena Health Care Systems and our centers worked cooperatively with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office throughout this investigation.
Our goal at Athena Health Care Systems is always to aim to provide the highest quality of care for our patients and residents. Since late 2015, Athena has been admitting and caring for individuals who are afflicted with substance use disorder (SUD) and may require short-term, post-hospital care following an accident or exacerbation of a medical condition. Our teams care for the whole individual, treating them with the dignity and respect they deserve and providing them with the tools and resources to help assist in getting them back to their own self. Our hearts go out to all those affected with SUD. It is not an easy battle, and we strive to train our staff on how best to handle this challenging environment.
Athena Health Care Systems is a pioneer in the development of the SUD program in Massachusetts. Our teams continue to work closely with area hospitals to ensure safe and appropriate admissions into our facilities to meet the needs of this underserved population. As an operator of long-term care facilities, we have taken the lead in caring for individuals who require skilled medical care and concurrently have a substance use disorder.
