Athena Health Care Systems’ centers provide a comprehensive orientation program for all new employees; both general orientation to their center and job-specific orientation. Our orientation programs are provided both virtually and in person and are designed to provide the new employee with the training and education needed to deliver the best in resident care and customer service to our residents and their families.
All mandatory state and federal requirements are met during initial employee orientation. These topics are presented to ensure employees provide quality care and understand the expectations of their role. Following orientation, a comprehensive review of needed skills/competencies is provided to assure each employee performs their tasks at the highest level.
Athena also offers various opportunities for career advancement to its staff as well as scholarship programs for those looking to advance their career within our organization. Through employee input, we are strengthening and expanding these opportunities to help employees grow, both professionally and personally. Many of our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) have gone on to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Registered Nurses (RNs), as well as serve in other management roles in our centers. Throughout our network, it is commonplace that our managers were grown from within: Directors of Dining Services who began as a Dietary Aide, Housekeeping, and Environmental Managers who started their careers with us as assistants.

Partners in Dedication – Athena Honors Employees
Each June, Athena Health Care Systems hosts our “Partners in Dedication” luncheon ceremony to honor employees throughout the Athena network who reached their 10, 20 and 30 years of service as of December. We typically recognize more than 100 employees each of the past 20 years this program has been in place. As well as enjoying a meal at a beautiful venue, employees are recognized for their dedication and commitment for providing quality care to residents and patients.
